I'm retired (whatever that means!) and now my wife and I spend six months in rural BC and six months at our other home in Pacific Mexico.  Professionally, I taught English literature at various BC universities (16 years)  and business and technical communication at the BC Institute of Technology (17 years) where I was also a Program Head.  My colleagues valued me highly as an administrator, because my willingness to do the work meant they didn't have to.

Now, I have much more fun being an intellectual agitator over beer and wine with friends (I have a handful only), exploring ideas in art, travel, and politics, poking about a bit in village activities and helping out in those little arenas as much as I can, and enjoying my wife's wonderful cooking

I'm  stimulated, challenged, annoyed and amused by the great Ideas of the Western tradition, and love to lock horns over Atheism , Evolution, the origins of Evil, whether a man can step into the same river twice, the reasons for the imminent fall of America, etc.--all that great stuff we can never resolve but MUST keep talking about to sustain our status above the slugs.

I'm pretty sure I'm an Atheist, but I'm very respectful and more than a little awed by the pomp and ceremony of the Roman Catholic Church.  Not quite sure what to do with that one.

I'm also doing some writing.  Working on a novel, some articles on travel and culture, occasional posts on HubPages and Trip Advisor.  Rght noiw (Spring 2012) I'm publishing poetry and occassional articles, mostly on HubPages.
